Mid-Line Hitch Breakers
Mid-line Hitch Breakers are just that; an accessory that can be installed mid-line onto your rope, above your climbing hitch.
The term "Hitch Breaker" popularized by Jim (awesome guy) is truly what these are. For common hitch based climbing systems, we've all experienced hitches too tight, too pitchy, burnt fingers, or gloves getting sucked in. Hitch Breakers stop all that. Riding the hitch un-noticble until you descend.
They give your hitch system a mechanical feeling and once you use one you wont want to climb with out one.
My mid-line Hitch Breakers are different for a few reasons; 1. The price. 2. They are semi-permanent in the way they lock together using two CAD designed male-female interfaces. Once locked onto your rope, you wont be losing these.
The benefit to mid-line breakers is if you have a stitch spliced eye, a traditional hitch breaker wont fit over it. Maybe you have a spliced eye on each end. Maybe you just want to swap ropes for the day. Whatever the reason, these can be removed and installed without feeding 200' of rope through it.
